Asbestos Analyst
Our client is an internationally recognised independent scientific research organisation with charitable status. Our Headquarters are in Scotland and we have four regional offices. We are the major independent UK centre of research, problem solving and training in the fields of occupational and environmental health, hygiene and safety. We work for national and international government agencies, trade associations, industry and commerce. The client also provides top quality analytical and advisory services to industry throughout the UK and overseas.
Our work is multidisciplinary and is applied to solving problems related to health, hygiene and safety in the workplace and the environment. Much is in co-ordinated research programmes for major companies, trade and industry associations and government agencies such as the UK Health and Safety Executive and the European Community.
We have thriving services and consultancies businesses. Our doctors, asbestos specialists, health nurses, occupational hygiene and safety specialists, chemists, physicists and ergonomists provide services to a wide range of industrial, commercial and public organisations from our Scotland HQ and our regional offices in the South East, Midlands and Yorkshire. The work extends from the analysis of single samples through to providing ongoing strategic consultancies relating to health and safety policy and its implementation and includes technical and awareness training. We provide a wide range of consultancy, training and other services for industrial, commercial and local authority clients. We operate primarily through two specialist Divisions, Consultancy and Research, setting up multidisciplinary teams when appropriate. The client currently has approximately 110 staff.
Consultancy Services Division
The Division supplies the services in asbestos, occupational hygiene, safety, environmental monitoring and assessment. We have over 40 qualified occupational hygienist, asbestos consultants and technical staff based in the Headquarters in Scotland, and in the regional offices in Yorkshire, Midlands and South East. Our in-house facilities enable us to assess and monitor exposures to minerals, metals, fibres, vapours, pesticides and a wide range of other organic and inorganic chemicals in the workplace and in the environment.
The Division has a wide range of UKAS accreditations for asbestos sampling, analysis and surveying. We are also accredited for a range of other laboratory tests and sampling activities.
The Post
The main aim of the post would be to help provide high quality Asbestos Consultancy and management to a major clients as part a substantial remediation construction contract. This is an unusual opportunity in that it provides an opportunity to work within a high quality organisation, providing high level consultancy to a top UK company. The work is primarily during office hours but some weekend and out of hours working will be necessary as the successful applicant becomes integrated into the wider asbestos works undertaken by our London operation. The work is in Central London. Remediation work is in confined spaces and the successful applicant will need to work in these areas. Security clearance is necessary.
